India has been hailed as the supreme citadel of knowledge and wisdom throughout the ages. This ancient land of sages and savants has more than 5000 years of rich and evolved culture, and a tradition of institutionalized education through its famed Gurukul system. Our Nalanda and Taxila universities around the beginning of 1st millennia were probably the World’s very first residential schools where students and international scholars converged to learn and get enlightened in various disciplines. India has been fortunate in being the nurturing ground of some preeminent educators of the stature of Swami Vivekananda; Sri Aurobindo; Rabindranath Tagore; Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan; Jiddu Krishnamurthy and others. The multi-racial and multi-cultural composition of our polity has always encouraged liberal thinking and a pragmatic outlook towards intellectual development. Empowerment through education has been inherent in all our systems of governance and we have always tried to learn and assimilate the progressive features of other civilizations and societies from across the world. Nobel Laureate, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore had brought out this aspect beautifully in one of his famous poetic compositions from Gitanjali - Mind without Fear. India has always been a repository of knowledge and the pedantic disposition of our intelligentsia has, for long, been our prized legacy. As a proud Indian citizen it has been my sincere endeavour to engage this brilliant mind force into imparting meaningful education that transcends all borders of geographic divides and narrow prejudices.

History of International school aamby
History of ISA

The concept of a school in Aamby Valley City was envisioned in March 2006 by Mr. Subrata Roy Sahara and Mr. Seemanto Roy, but the real academic foundations were set in 2008, when the school received authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) IGCSE programme. Following this important step, ISA officially opened its doors on the 15th September 2008. At that time the student-teacher ratio was a very neat 2:1, with 48 students (in Standards 3 to 11) and 24 teaching staff. This figure increased to 54 students in the second year of classes. It is expected that our student body will continue to increase until capacity is reached in 2014/15. A very proud moment in the annals of time was the first graduating IBDP (Standard 12) class of 2009/10. It was particularly heartening to observe a 98% IBDP pass rate in our very first cohort, with students gaining entry into some of the world?s most prestigious universities. Along with our encouraging first set of CIE IGCSE grades from Standard 10, the student achievement surpassed our own expectations. The rigorous academic standard was set from this moment, and we have continued to refine our academic programmes and to keep track with international practices.
